Transport Group

Transport is accountable for 1/3 of energy consumption in the UK and generates 22% of our carbon emissions – some pretty serious numbers.

Car transport in particular is more expensive then most people imagine. If you wish to find out the cost of running your car please take a look at this double arrow

At the same time, it means that by cycling, walking and using public transport, you can make a big difference to the environment, save money and protect valuable resources.

We hope to encourage people in Romsey to leave their car at home as often as possible and to make it easier for them to do so.

If you would like to use public transport more often, we hope you will find the following tips and information useful:

For example did you know there was a “One-stop shop” for public transport information covering bus, train, coach, ferry or underground? Just enter your starting point and destination and they will tell you how to get there using public transport, how long it will take and give you maps of walking routes, bus stops etc as appropriate.

Also local journey planner – ‘My Journey Hampshire’ – covers jouneys by bus, car, train, bike, walking and ferry www.myjourneyhampshire.com/

What else you can do

  • The transport of goods also plays a big role in how much oil we use, so it is worth looking at labels and buying as locally as possible.
  • If you have any tips or information on transport in and around Romsey, please let us know.

Group gathered for bike ride

The ride finished in the market square where Cycle World were holding a free cycle clinic and an opportunity to try their new bikes.  We particularly enjoyed trying out the new powered cycles!
